NEW-AGE
MOVEMENT
ALL-ENCOMPASSING WORLD RELIGION
All Gods are the One God
The term New Age describes the overall movement today
of respecting all religions equally, and concluding that all gods are the same
God. About one in four of
people in North America (and probably Europe) believe in some if not all forms
of this movement. Many of the advocates are in the upper echelon of
society in many countries ~ physicians, lawyers, professors, etc. You may not
care one way or the other. Or you have heard about it and might be interested
in it for yourself. In either case, you may want to know the overall
beliefs of people in leadership positions of possibly your community. You may
agree with them. Who knows?
The term New Age came from Alice Bailey who wrote in 1948 The Reappearance
of Christ and on page 81 stated that the year 2000 was to be the new
"Age of Aquarius." In fact, this is the title of a popular song
during the 1970s. She went on to say
that Jesus will be known to the Christians as Christ (second coming), Jews as
the Messiah (first coming), Buddhists as the Fifth Buddha, Moslems as the Imam
Mahdi, and Hindus as the Krishna. Everyone will recognize Jesus as their own version of God. Anyone wanting to know more about her
writings will find them with a simple internet search.
Donald N. Morris of UNICEF said we must "teach the folly of divisions
among creeds [world religions]." Robert
Muller, undersecretary of the UN Economic and Social Council, said all children
should be taught karma and Hinduism "as one of the most accurate
religions."
In the Windsor Star in Ontario, Canada, a 1999 religious-page headline
read "Radical Beatnik Still Ready to Howl for Correct Cause." The
article reported, "Allen Ginsberg will be in Ann Arbor [University of
Michigan] to support the Buddhist organization Jewel Heart and poetry
contest." He said, "There's
an authoritarian attitude among fundamentalist Christians that they speak for
God and everyone who opposes them is a pagan or devil worshiper. The Monotheistic right-wing is trying to take
everybody's mind like a bunch of Stalins."
That same year, an article appeared in the same newspaper quoting Lucie
DuFresne of the University of Ottawa in Canada, "For others who cannot
stomach rule-bound organized religion, the answer is goddess worship."
In 2003, the Human Kindness Foundation re-printed in its Christmas
newsletter an "Impatient Letter from God" which Bo Lozoff originally
wrote in his third book, Just Another Spiritual Book. ( He, by the way,
has been granted an honorary doctorate from the Chicago Theological Seminary.)

RE:
Idiotic Religious Rivalries
My
Dear Children (and believe me, that's all of you)....All your books, including
the bibles, were written by men and women. They were inspired, remarkable people, but they also made mistakes
here and there. I made sure of that, so
that you could never trust a written word more than your own living Heart.....
You know what I'm talking about: Love and respect everyone....Learn how to be
quiet....Leave the world a better place....Why do you keep making it so
complicated? It's like you're always
looking for an excuse to be upset. And
I'm very tired of being your main excuse. Do you think I care whether you call me Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah,
Wakentonka, Brahma, Father, Mother, or even The Void or Nirvana? Do you think I care which of My special
Children you feel closest to ~ Jesus, Mary, Buddha, Krishna, Mohammed or any of
the others?
Lozoff's
very popular book, We're All Doing Time, is widely circulated among and
accepted by many convicts. His latest book was written for children.
The
New Age Tolerance Organization defines the New Age Movement as believing in the
following:
MONISM:
All that exists comes from a single
source of divine energy.
PANTHEISM:
All that exists is God, therefore each
individual is God.
PANENTHEISM:
God is all that exists.
REINCARNATION:
After death, we are reborn and live
another life as a human.
KARMA:
The good and bad deeds we do add or
subtract from our karma accumulated from other lives, and determines whether we
will be reborn in a painful existence or good existence.
TRANSFORMATION:
Through a personal and intensive
mystical experience, believers hope to develop greater potentials within
themselves. Aids can be meditation, hypnosis, imagery and sometimes
hallucinogenic drugs.
UNIVERSAL
RELIGION: Various religions are just
different paths to the same reality. Eventually there will be one world-wide religion.
AGE
OF AQUARIAS: There will be a single
world government with no disease, no hunger, no pollution, no gender or racial
or religious prejudice.
New
Age practices include channeling (conjuring up dead ancestors) for help in everyday
life, use of crystals for healing, meditating to create a better self,
divination (telling the future), astrology, and the Human Potential Movement
such as cited above. Among the most
famous of New Age advocates in the English-speaking world is movie star Shirley
McLain.
Most
New Age advocates believe that all religions are man made and unprovable, so
are just a matter of personal choice. If the sacred writings of a particular religion are inconsistent
and/or unprovable, then they are indeed man made. Further, they believe organized religion has been the cause of
more killings and wars in world history than any other source. Finally,
they believe that the ultimate purpose of religion is to convince people to be
kinder to one another.
